13 - Epilogue: Knowing Jesus and His Word | Themes in the Gospel of John

We are all born in a spirit of deception, because if our spirit were in the truth, we would not experience any inner captivity or difficulties. The Holy Spirit of truth reveals to us that we are God's children.

The unity between Father, Son, Holy Spirit and us lies in the Word (information), in the law (knowledge of God and ourselves), in the common will (our will corresponds to God's will) and in the love that unites us with God. It is crucial to understand the content of information.

We need an awareness of our beliefs and thoughts. Thinking means weighing up information. To do this, we need two types of information: usable information (e.g. the Bible) and a yardstick (spiritual compass). However, since we are born with a wrong standard, we misunderstand the Word of God. Therefore, it is important to realize that the right understanding of the Word is based on the right standard - represented by the two tables of God's law.

Lucifer and Adam broke the law by assuming themselves to be God. Lucifer's inner self-deception led him to separate himself completely from God. Adam and Eve also fell into self-deception, but did not have the full knowledge of God. God found a solution to their error: man must recognize his mistake and correct it through the offered truth. Christ was sent into this world for this purpose. When he cried “It is finished” on the cross, he removed the lie from his spirit and was able to create a new man through his resurrection.

When we fully recognize “I am a child of God”, we are bound to God again through faith and are able to love all people. These topics are part of the reflection of the thirteenth part of the series “Themes in the Gospel of John”.
