We deal with the temptations of this world. To do this, we look at the needs of the mind, how they are satisfied and why nothing can function properly any more as a result of the change in identity. Although the lie cannot be explained, it follows a general principle: according to the law, we must first take before we can give. The cause always precedes the effect and this order is unchangeable. Lucifer is an effect who deceived himself by wanting to become a cause (God). The lie cannot create anything new, it can only distort the order. Let's take a closer look at this using a few examples: the truth says that the cause is followed by the effect, while the lie pretends that the effect becomes the cause.
A person can only be deceived if they have a need, such as for independence. In fact, our need for independence lies at the output of our mind: where we give, we are independent, and where we take, we are dependent. The lie, on the other hand, claims the opposite - that we are independent at the input of our mind and dependent at the output. In relation to the need for eternal life, this would mean that it is a cause and not a consequence - in other words, that there are no conditions for eternity. In reality, however, eternal life is a consequence. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the real structure of man in order to be protected from the temptations of spiritualism and other teachings. Ultimately, evil does not care what means it uses to tempt us. Without the absolute reference system of the law and the human structure, and without knowledge of the innate inner self-deception, man cannot distinguish between lie and truth. This is dealt with in more detail in the tenth part of the series 'The Great Controversy'.
