1 - The War Behind All Wars | The Great Controversy

Why do people fight each other and why does war even exist? There are two types of elements in God's creation: the physical and the spiritual. Matter is used in war, but in the physical world the elements cannot fight each other. This is only possible in the spiritual world. What is the origin of spirits fighting each other? To understand this, we need to know the basic structure of the spirit. When God created the spirit, it was perfect and there was no evil in it. How was it that war began with Lucifer, as the highest created angel (spirit)? In Isaiah 14:12-14, the Bible gives a few clues, where it says: “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God (...).” Lucifer began to think that he could be God. Since this was an inner process in his mind, God could not control it.

The confrontation that Lucifer initiated has only one focus: the law! God is the cause of all things and he has made a law that separates cause and effect. Lucifer, the angels and everything that comes from God are automatically an effect. Lucifer could not become a cause. Yet he wanted to. And if we look around the world today, there is only one reason for all wars: we all want to be God. That means we want to rule over others and force them to follow our will. And where there is force, there is war. There is no force in love. Illness is the result of war among ourselves. It is proof that the law cannot be broken. When Lucifer also made people deceive themselves and believe they were God, he became the prince of this world. So the origin behind all wars is the self-deception of believing you could be God. In this series, we want to learn how to move from this error to the truth and from shadow to light.
